QUICK FACTS FOR FAMILIES AND STUDENTS
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY
- ALL students (new and returning) MUST apply every year
- Families with eligible students who will be in 1st – 9th grades in the coming Fall semester in Virginia Beach or Norfolk Public Schools may ask for an application from public school building counselors in early March of each year
- To apply, students must first be enrolled and attending a Norfolk or Virginia Beach Public School AND be eligible for and enrolled in the Free/Reduced School Food Program at school
- Families with current Kindergarten students (1st graders in the coming Fall) who want to apply MUST get enrolled in the Reduced/Free School Food Program BEFORE applying to Horizons Hampton Roads
IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS
- Transportation to and from summer session sites is limited---the Site Family Information Booklet has more information
- Attendance at summer session days is VERY important---other activities should be planned around session dates to avoid absence
- All students at Horizons receive swim instruction, working to improve their skills levels and fun potential….swimming is part of who we are!
- Deadlines for application and enrolment are firm---required paperwork and payment must be received on time
- Students eligible for Public School Summer Academic sessions will be required to attend them rather than Horizons Hampton Roads
