Horizons Hampton Roads is a Virginia neighborhood assistance program (NAP) non-profit organization. NAP is a Commonwealth tax credit incentive program for eligible contributions made directly to NAP-approved non-profit organizations that help Virginians in low-income circumstances administered by the Virginia Department of Social Services and Education. What is the NAP Tax Credit?- Eligible donors will receive a tax credit of 40% of donation value per calendar year. This tax credit can be applied directly to Virginia income tax. That's a 40% savings! Who/What qualifies for NAP Tax Credit?- Individuals and businesses paying Virginia income tax may qualify for a tax credit if its contributions adhere to the guidelines listed below. For contributions made between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012: INDIVIDUALS donating $500 - $125,000 in cash (check, or credit card) or marketable securities BUSINESSES donating $1,000 - $437,500 in cash, stock, merchandise, real estate, and certain professional or contracting services*

Horizons will send individual contribution notification/thank you letter with the NAP form to be signed by donor. Donor returns form to Horizons. Horizons completes form and sends to NAP office. NAP office issues $400 tax credit directly to donor via mail.
